Testing & Tools
We combined many unique tests into one easy to use interface.
Here are some samples of tests and electronic tools available on the Eye Handbook.



Media Consent
  We made it possible to obtain written release of media for ophthalmic education right on the phone.  Patients can sign, on their smartphone, a media consent that gives permission for the use of any patient media.  A copy of the consent can then be emailed to appropriate parties.


Near Vision Cards
  A variety of Near Vision Cards are available for a diverse patient population and different testing environments .

Common Diseases Reference Tool
  This a reference tool of common patient conditions.  You can use this tool to educate patients about common eye diseases and using the "Mail" feature you can email patients more information for them to look up on their own. 

Amsler Grids
   A number of different Amsler Grids are available.

Pupil Gauge
   Use the pupil Guage to measure a patients pupils size on your smartphone. The half circles are conveniently place on the side of the screen to facilitate placing the phone edge next the patients eye for comparison.

SmartPhone Ruler
   The ruler is designed as a quick reference tool for patient measurements.  Metric and standard calibrations are on the sides of the screen to facilitate placing the phone edge next to the patients eye for measurement.

Pediatric Fixation Targets
  These are collection of moving images on your smartphone that can be used to facilitate fixation in a child.

Pediatric Fixation Movies
  Courtesy of the Vancouver Film School, this a collection of 3d animation that can be used to facilitate fixation in a child.   In addition to testing, in a cooperative child, these videos can be used to facilitate the performance of minor procedures.  They can also be used to facilitate general anesthesia induction in a child.

Eye Diagrams and Movies
  We assembled a collection of eye movies and diagrams for patient education.  Use these to educate patients about a disease process or a contemplated procedure.

OKN Drum
  These alternating stripes move across the screen in landscape or portrait mode and can be used to test the Optokinetic Reflex in your patient.

Fluorescein Light
   This blue light will cause Fluorescein dye to fluoresce when a woods light is not available.

Age to Bifocal Add tool
   Use this slider wheel to determine the amount of add to give your patient when prescribing bifocals.

Color Vision Testing
   Based on the standard 15 plate Ishihara test, you can use these plates to test the color vision of your patients with your smartphone.

Diopter to Radius Converstion Tool
  Use this Slider wheel to rapidly convert from diopters to radius of curvature or visa versa.

Vertex Conversion Tool
  Based on 12mm vertex distance, use this slider wheel to determine the lens power for a given vertex distance.

Pharmacopoeia
  This is an Eye pharmacology reference tool.  Drugs are broken down into treatment categories.  You can use this tool to reference Class, Dosage, Mechanism of Action and other information.
